When you’re preparing a meal, how many times do you run into a situation where you need to quickly wash a pint of cherry tomatoes for a salad or a pint of raspberries for a delicious dessert? Or maybe a can of beans needs to be rinsed before adding them to your favorite chili? You could use the same large colander that you use for pasta, but it seems a little overkill for such a small amount of food; not to mention the dishwasher space it hogs!
This is when it’s useful to own a mini colander (or a set of them). The set of four mini colanders that I purchased from Progressive Prepworks are perfect for quick rinses and washes of small amounts of produce. You can also purchase them individually.

These mini colanders are collapsable and come with a water-collecting tray that snaps onto the bottom of the colander. The tray serves two purposes. First, you can fill up the colander with water like a bowl, which can help you clean especially dirty produce. Secondly, the tray can be snapped on when you are done rinsing; this way you don’t need to leave them drip in the sink—just snap on the tray and bring the colander full of your washed produce directly to your cutting board. You can also store just-rinsed produce in the refrigerator without worrying about water dripping onto the shelves.
The walls of the colanders are sturdy; you won’t need to worry about them accidentally collapsing when they are in use.
Each mini colander in the set has a capacity of 3.5 cups. They are 3-inches tall but collapse to just 1-inch when pushed in, making it super easy to fit in the dishwasher and store away in your kitchen drawers.
The mini colanders are constructed with polypropylene and thermoplastic elastomer; they are also BPA free.
